CFL light bulbs give 5x as much light as a conventional bulb, for the same energy use. Therefore, from an 11w CFL bulb, you can expect to get about the same light output as from a standard 60w bulb.

For all solar, wind and battery powered lighting systems, the high efficiency of CFL bulbs are extremely important. The cost of a solar or wind energy system is highly dependent on the average energy consumption and the running times.

Unlike normal CFL bulbs, which require a 240v input (mains), all of the lights featured on this page are designed to run on 12v dc (some special models for 24v dc). This eliminates the need for a separate inverter, which when only running a few lights would be highly inefficient (up to 90% of the power can be wasted).

12v CFL Light Bulbs

These compact energy saving lamps (CFL) are of high quality and are very cost effective. Energy Saving Lamps can be switched on and off many thousand times by means of a pre-heating circuit. The service life is therefore considerably higher than that of normal bulbs.

The bulbs we stock have a screw-in (Edison) fitting as standard, which is more suited to harsh environments. We also stock Edison light sockets. We can however, supply bulbs with bayonet fitting to special order if required.
